He was operated successfully at Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Chennai.

Chennai: Rubha Abdullaziz, a 60-year-old man from Kuwait, who was diagnosed with respiratory failure, gets a new lease of life after he underwent lung transplant at a private hospital recently.

After reaching end-stage of respiratory failure, he was donated lung by a 36-year-old male from Chennai, who met with a road accident and was declared brain dead at Stanley Hospital, Chennai. He was operated successfully at Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Chennai.

Dr Sanjay M Cherian, Vice President, Co-nsultant Cardiac Surgeon and CEO said that Rubha has been completely oxygen dependent since ten years and was suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“Surgery was delayed by three months as the lungs were either not available or not suitable to be used. The idea of organ donation needs to be promoted on a higher level,” he added.
