CM Jagan Wants Broadband Services in AP's Nook and Corner

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually launched 4G services in remote areas of Andhra Pradesh from his Camp Office here on Thursday.

The CM thanked centre’s telecommunications department, BSNL, Reliance Jio and Airtel for extending their services to remote corners by establishing communication towers in 209 remote corners of the state. Specifically, he said, this will help improve the quality of government services in areas that had hitherto remained inaccessible.

Reliance has established 85 towers in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, 10 in Parvatipuram Manyam, three in Annamayya and two in YSR district. These towers will soon be upgraded to 5G.

Interacting through new towers by video conferencing with district collectors, public representatives and officials, the Chief Minister said the new facility will provide internet services to houses even in remote areas.

He disclosed that to take broadband services to every nook and corner of AP, his government has tied up with Universal Service Obligation Fund to establish towers in collaboration with Reliance Group. Under this programme, mobile cell towers will be established in 2,849 places. Government has already handed over land for establishing these towers at 2,463 places. All places targeted will be covered by December, he stated.

“In addition, village secretariats, Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), village clinics and schools will acquire broadband services. This will help implementation of welfare schemes, e-learning, health services, e-crop booking and efficient distribution of ration,” the CM underlined.
