BJP's Raja Singh asked to appear before court

The legislator said that these days, many legislators are busy hosting Iftar parties and wearing skull caps.

Hyderabad: The Falaknuma police issued a notice to Goshamahal BJP legislator T. Raja Singh on Thursday asking him to appear before it for investigation into a case registered against him for promoting enmity between groups.

According to Falaknuma inspector, P. Yadagiri, a case was registered against the legislator after he made some remarks against the Quran earlier this week. The MLA had demanded that a ban be imposed on the “green book” as it is the cause of terrorism in the country and he would fight for it to be banned. He further said that only those “begging for vote” host Iftar parties, and declared he would neither host nor attend such events

The legislator said that these days, many legislators are busy hosting Iftar parties and wearing skull caps. They think if they have to do vote bank politics, they will have to think of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’ (together will all, development for all). “Those attending Iftar are beggars for vote. My thinking is different,” he said.

DCP, (south) V. Satyanararyana said that the notice was issued under Section 41 of CrPC.
