Telangana: Full salary not being paid to contract staff

Hyderabad: More than 2,500 contract workers from the sanitation departments in 25 government hospitals are being paid only Rs 6,000 instead of their their full salary of Rs 9,600 per month.

In Gandhi Hospital, they are not paid for months at a stretch and have to go on strike and only then the payment is released. M Narsimha, a member of the workers’ union said. “The government order was issued in April 2016. The government had agreed that full payment must be made but the contractor is not paying us. We do not know the reason why the government order is not being implemented.”
