Telangana: E-vehicles last longer, claim experts
Hyderabad: Experts claim that electric bikes and cars will not just be environment-friendly, they will also last longer. Medchal district transport officer Srinivas Puppala said, “e-vehicle manufacturers are assuring us that these vehicles will have a longer life span. While cars running on conventional fuel can expect to run up to 3.5 lakh km, e-cars can last up to 16 lakh kms. Besides, maintenance cost, operating cost for e-cars is very low. Besides e-cars, motorists are looking forward to e-vehicles that also have the option of running on conventional fuel. The drawback, if any, with e-vehicles, is that the upfront cost is more than that of conventional fuel cars.”
Mr S.K. Zahir, a mechanical engineer, said that while motorcycles need servicing every 3,000 km, there is no such need with e-motorcycles. “After 18,000 km, normal motorcycles need replacement of a few parts, but there is no such maintenance cost for e-motorcycles”, he said.
