Tamil Nadu: DMK to raise bribe issue again in assembly
Chennai: Demanding the dissolution of the state government over charges of bribing MLAs to vote in the confidence motion moved by CM Palaniswami in February, leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin, who was evicted from the Assembly on Wednesday asserted that the party would raise the issue again on Thursday.
Since the government had been formed through horse-trading, it should be dissolved, toppled or it should resign, he demanded and added that the confidence vote should be cancelled. The government should order a CBI probe into the allegations, he said.
Stalin arrested along with party legislators for resorting to road roko after their eviction was released later.
Speaking to the media after his release, he said his party MLAs had been released after the conclusion of the Assembly proceedings.
To a query about the ruling party’s stand that the issue of bribing MLAs is sub judice, Stalin said the Assembly had discussed issues like Neet and Cauvery dispute which were also sub-judice.
When asked about the Speaker’s stand he would take action if evidence is submitted, he said it was not necessary since everyone knows about the happenings.
