Kerala police chief TP Senkumar for fresh probe against Tomin Thachankary
Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief T.P. Senkumar has slammed ADGP (headquarters) Tomin J. Thachankary and sought a fresh probe into his unlawful activities.
Mr Senkumar made his comments in an explanation given to Chief Secretary Nalini Netto on a complaint of Mr. Thachankary that the DGP had verbally abused him and threatened to dismiss him from service.
Listing out the cases and allegations against Mr Thachankary, Mr Senkumar said that posting such a police officer as ADGP (headquarters) would even disturb the discipline of the entire police force.
"Thachankary is an officer who faced the maximum probes in Kerala police. I have not seen a police officer with such a character in Kerala police," Mr Senkumar said in the reply.
While admitting that he had strictly warned Mr Thachankary for indulging in unlawful activities, Mr Senkumar denied the allegation that he had abused or made any physical advances towards Mr Thachankary. He also said that Mr Thachankary was warned in the presence of IG headquarters Balram Kumar Upadhyay. Mr Senkumar had also warned him that he would be compelled to send adverse reports even to the centre if he continued his unlawful activities.
Mr. Senkumar also sought a fresh probe into the unlawful activities being initiated by Mr. Thachankary these days, said sources.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that the government was trying to fuel the fight between top police officials, instead of trying to settle it.
The ongoing fight was demoralise the entire police force, he said in a statement.
It may be recalled that Mr Senkumar and Ms Netto were not on good terms and there were even allegations that she had manipulated the files for the removal of Mr Senkumar from the state police chief post after the LDF came to power.
