Bhopal: Twenty tiger cubs were born in Bandhavgarh national park in Madhya Pradesh, a local forest officer said.
The cubs were born to five tigresses over a period of last four months, field director, Bandhavgarh tiger reserve Mrudul Pathak said.
“Some of them were born in core area of the reserve, while others were spotted in buffer zones and villages under the national park,” he added.
“The cubs need extra care since they are infants and monsoon is approaching. Hence, we have deployed foresters to keep a vigil on them for their protection", he added.
Birth of so many cubs has indicated that the reserve forest is conducive to proliferation of tigers, he said.
