Chennai: DMK chief M K Stalin has rubbished news that his party was in talks with the BJP to be a possible ally in the Centre.

Stalin has challenged Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan’s claims of talks and has dared her and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prove it.

“I will quit politics if Modi and Soundararajan can prove that I am in touch with the BJP. If they fail to prove, will they resign?” Stalin asked.

On Tuesday, Soundararajan claimed the DMK was in talks with the BJP. She said that the DMK was talking “through someone”.

The DMK chief, however, condemned the remark and said the BJP has stooped to a new low.

The development came after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao met M K Stalin and Stalin ruled out the possibility of a non-BJP, non-Congress front.

Replying to Stalin’s statement, Soundararajan said she would prove her claim 'whenever there is necessity'.

"It is true that the DMK has spoken to the BJP regarding elections. I need not prove just because Stalin said so," she said adding that no one has the right to tell her to quit politics. She claimed that the DMK has sent a 'messenger' to the BJP.
