Vote counting: Training programme in Chennai today

The Election Commission of India will be conduct the meeting regarding counting of ballots and steps taken to count the ballots in the EVMs.

Chennai: Training programme will be conducted in Chennai on Wednesday to officials regarding steps to be taken during counting of votes in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Puducherry and Lakshadeep Islands. The chief electoral officers, deputy electoral officers and returning officers in the three states and two Union Territories will be attending the programme.

The Election Commission of India will be conduct the meeting regarding counting of ballots and steps taken to count the ballots in the EVMs. Deputy Election Commissioners of ECI Sandeep Saxena and Sudeep Jain will conduct the meeting. Following the programme the officials will visit model-counting centre, which was set up ECI, in Anna University.

Meanwhile, a training programme was conducted to officials engaged counting of ballots in Chennai on Tuesday. The meeting, headed by additional chief electoral officer M. Balaji, was held in Chennai Corporation building. Among others officials including personal assistant (election), district collectors in 32 districts, officials handling postal ballots and district computer operators attended the programme. The officials were training on steps taken during counting of votes on May 23. More than 150 officials attended the meeting.
