TPCC changes its MLC candidate at last moment

TPCC sources said that the party was of the view that Mr Pratap Reddy would be a stronger candidate against the TRS than Mr Uday Mohan Reddy.

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has changed Rangareddy local body's MLC candidate in the last minute. The Congress Committee has given the B form to former MLA Kommuri Pratap Reddy of Waran-gal district in place of Mr Uday Mohan Reddy.

The TPCC had annou-nced on Monday that Mr Uday Mohan Reddy would be its MLC candidate for Rangareddy MLC seat, but suddenly decided to give the ticket to Mr Pratap Reddy.

Mr Pratap Reddy had won the Cheryal Assembly seat with a TRS ticket in 2004 Assembly elections. During the recent Assembly elections he joined the Congress.

TPCC sources said that the party was of the view that Mr Pratap Reddy would be a stronger candidate against the TRS than Mr Uday Mohan Reddy.

The time for filing nominations for the Legislative council elections have ended on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, TPCC pre-sident N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday wrote to all Opposition parties, requesting them to extend their support to the Congress candidates in the MLC elections. He sent the letters to Telangana Jana Samiti president Prof. M. Kodandaram, Telangana TD president L. Ramana, CPI state secretary Chada Venkata Reddy and CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabha-dram.
