No BJP MLA will join Congress: B S Yeddyurappa to K C Venugopal
Kalaburagi: State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa has taken exception to the claim by All-India Congress Committee General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal that BJP legislators are waiting to join the Congress after the announcement of the Lok Sabha and Assembly bypoll results on May 23.
Reacting to media reports in this regard, Mr Yeddyurappa shot back, "How much does he know about Karnataka politics? Have BJP legislators gone mad to join the Congress?'.
Referring to the comments by Mr Venugopal that the Congress would come to power at the Centre, Mr Yeddyurappa during an interaction with the media dared him to declare how many Lok Sabha seats the Congress would win in the state.
According to his assessment, BJP candidates would win in both Kundagol and Chincholi Assembly constituencies by over 25,000 votes.
On the war of words between former CM Siddaramaiah and State JDS Chief A.H. Vishwanath, Mr Yeddyurappa said the situation has reached a point where Siddaramaiah has said he will raise the issue in the coalition's coordination committee meeting.
“This (wordy duel) is the result of the backstabbing leaders of both parties indulged in during the Lok Sabha polls. Despite statements to the contrary by both Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy, we are certain that the situation will worsen in the days to come,” Mr Yeddyurappa remarked.
