Inebriated man falls 25 feet from Dasarahalli Metro station, injured

He remained lying there for 30 minutes after the fall. Passersby were busy taking videos on their phones.

Bengaluru: A Namma Metro passenger, who had reportedly misbehaved with another passenger, got injured while trying to escape from security staff and fearing a mob attack in Dasarahalli station on Tuesday evening.

The passenger, Sandeep, had reportedly misbehaved with another passenger, who lodged a complaint with the station security staff.

When they approached Sandeep for questioning, he jumped to an open space, which was nearly 25 foot below the station level.

BMRCL Chief Public Relations officer B.L. Yashavanth Chavan said that police was informed about the incident.

Sandeep was initially rushed to a nearby hospital around 4 pm, from where he was shifted to Victoria hospital.

Sandeep is the son of Omanakutan Pillai, who hails from Kollam in Kerala, but settled in Dasarahalli.

Bagalagunte Police said Sandeep had come to metro station around 3.30 pm and went to toilet. He was reportedly inebriated and also carrying some solvents.

When BMRCL security guard went to check, Sandeep panicked and jumped from toilet window, police added.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that, he had come to the city from Kollam one-and-a-half-months ago and staying with his parents in Dasarahalli.

He was unemployed and addicted to drugs. He used to wander aimlessly throughout the city.

Tension prevailed after he fell from the first floor of the station. It was alleged that he was lying in pool of blood for half an hour, and passersby, instead of shifting him to the hospital, were taking videos on their phones. It was only after Hoysala staff reached to the spot, an ambulance was called. His condition is said to be stable but is under observation.
