Hyderabad: Parents are getting influenced from ads
Hyderabad: The number of students who took the SSC public examination from English medium schools has increased from 3.11 lakh to 3.27 lakh in 2019. The demand for English speakers in the job market and parents opting for private school education for their children are the major factors.
Chava Ravi of the United Teachers Federation says that parents believe that quality education is possible only in English medium schools. Advertising by private schools is also influencing parents’ thinking. “The Government should sign up more teachers for government-run English medium schools,” he says.
If the number of students in English medium schools has increased, there is a decline in the number of Telugu medium students.
If the existing government schools are converted into English medium schools with qualified teachers, then there would more schools and parents would not be burdened with excessive fee structures, said Naganti Narayana of the Telangana Parents Association.
