Chennai girl is third in ISC examinations

CISCE has released the results for ISC (class 12) and Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE- class 10) exams on Monday.

Chennai: Simran Avinash Somalinga from Sishya School in Chennai has secured all India third rank in Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations conducted by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

CISCE has released the results for ISC (class 12) and Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE- class 10) exams on Monday. Totally, 1,83,387 students appeared for ICSE and 80,880 students for ISC exams from India and abroad. Of these students, 98.51% have cleared the ICSE and 96.21% cleared the ISC exams this year.

In the region-wise results, the southern region has performed better compared to other regions. It has registered 99.69% pass percentage in ICSE exams and 98.38% in ISC exams.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Simran said, “I wanted to pursue bio-engineering and biotechnology abroad. I have applied to some universities and awaiting the results.” She has secured 97 in English and Physics, 99 in Chemistry and 100 in Maths and Biology. She has also appeared in the NEET exam. Her father S.M. Avinash and mother Kapila Avinash are freelancing interior designers.

From Tamil Nadu, 1,278 students from 43 schools appeared for ISC exams and from 77 schools 3,280 students for ICSE exams. In ICSE, the state registered 99.79% pass percentage and in ISC 99.3%.

At the state level, Pavan Siddharth E from Virudhunagar TSM Manickam Nadar and Janaki Ammal School secured the second rank with 98.75% and Sarah Christopher from IDA Scudder School in Vellore, Manan Goenka from Sishya School in Chennai, C.Sethukumar from St.Jude’s public school and Junior College in Kotagiri secured third rank with 98.5% marks. n P2
