Hyderabad: The first known case of WannaCry cyberattack in the city was reported in the Rachakonda commissionerate limits on Sunday. The victim told cybercrime officials that his computer was infected with the ransomware, but did not lodge a written complaint; he said he would do so in a couple of days.
According to sources, the victim whose identity was not revealed, said that he was not able to access his computer and found a pop up message demanding money in US dollars to get back the access.
Police has advised users who are working on Windows 2005 to not click on any unknown links on mail or submit credentials or run unknown softwares.
Investigating agencies have already started to verify if any software firms in the city have fallen prey to the ransomware.
