Kambhampati facing tough time in TD
Vijayawada: The future of senior Mr Kambhampati Rammohan Rao in the TD is in the dark, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu even denying him an appointment.
Mr Rao has been with the party since its inception and has rendered his services as an MP and the state government’s special representative in Delhi.
Minister Nara Lokesh also ignored Mr Rao when he waited at the minister’s chamber for two days.
According to sources, the TD was ignoring Mr Rao due to his differences with a TD Union minister and allegations of giving priority to personal work rather than the party’s.
According to sources, the outcome of his cold war with Union minister Y.S Chowdary was that Mr Rao has been kept away from party.
Mr Rao, on the panel to nominate Mr Chowdary as Rajya Sabha member for second time, had expected the same position.
After Chowdary was renominated to the Rajya Sabha, he had started lobbying for someone else to hold the post of government representative in Delhi rather than Mr Rao.
The issue of Mr Rao has come to light again after the TD was caught by surprise by the meeting between YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A TD MP said, “If Kambampati was in Delhi, definitely the information on the Modi-Jagan meeting would have been known in advance. Because of the political war between Mr Chowdary and Mr Rao, the government is facing a series of lapses.” Mr Rao said, “Positions are not permanent. I shall follow party directives and the leadership of Mr. Naidu.”
