Bengaluru: Wall collapse kills one
Bengaluru: A 45-year-old man died, while a 10-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after a wall attached to the gate of Johnson Market collapsed on them on Sunday evening.
Residents said that the wall had become weak after the recent spell of rains. The deceased, Abdul Kareem, was an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Yalgunte. The injured boy, Juman Raja, a resident of Nelsandra, is undergoing a treatment at a private hospital and his condition is said to be serious. Around 7 pm, Abdul stopped his auto near the gate to let passengers out.
As they left, he came out of the auto and the wall collapsed on him. Raja, who was passing by, too came under the wall, the police said.
"Both were trapped under the debris. While Raja was pulled out alive and rushed to the hospital, Abdul died on the spot. Eyewitnesses said that Raj had just stepped out of the mosque nearby after attending the evening prayers," police said.
