Sharing their feelings with Deccan Chronicle, the young achievers said that it was an amazing feeling being on top of the world. Kare Satya Rao, studying first year degree, comes from a fisherman family. He said: “The first thing that flashed on my mind after reaching the summit was my parents. This could be the best ever gift that I can give my mother on Mother’s Day.”

Meanwhile, his parents Apparao and Satyavati, who live in a thatched house in Visakhapatnam, are still trying to sink in the news.

Mr Apparao said he always believed in his son’s ability. He used to be active in sports from childhood, he said and added: “When he asked us for Everest expedition, we were worried initially but agreed to his request.”

Ms Satyavati was speechless with the achievement of her son and both are eagerly waiting for his return. K. Durga Rao from Kunjavarigudem in East Godavari district also said he wanted to dedicate his expedition to his mother Lachamma. “I come from a remote village and my parents hardly know about Everest expedition but they agreed to send me to the summit,” he said.

His father Picchireddy, a marginal farmer, is jubilant with his son’s achievement.
He said: “We did not realise until we started getting so many phone calls congratulating us.”

Ms Lachamma said she was tensed all these days but she was very happy that her son has achieved something special. V. Krishna Rao, hailing from Chintalagadda, also shared the same story. He said: “My dream has come true with Everest expedition and it was next to impossible for me if I had to go on my own. I am waiting to celebrate the success with my parents.”
