Chennai: To ensure cent per cent voter turnout in the upcoming elections, the transgender community on Saturday joined hands with Universal Air Hostess Academy and organised a rally in the city.
Members of transgender community gathered at Anna Salai to reiterate the importance of voting. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, transgender activist, Apsara Reddy said, "Everyone should vote for the party of their choice as exercising the franchise is a fundamental right. Whether you are interested in politics or not, politics is interested in you.”
Talking about the importance of such rallies in a democratic state, Sasha Reddy, transgender rights activist, said, “Such rallies to promote franchise would help people of my community as most of them are not well educated and hold little political knowledge.”
