Telangana, AP: Minorities panel seeks extradition of 2 men involved in dowry case

Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan said two Muslim women lodged complaints of dowry harassment by their husbands.

Hyderabad: The Minorities Commission of AP and TS has asked the Union External Affairs Ministry to initiate extradition processes to bring back two men, one from the US and another from Dubai, who were involved in dowry cases.

Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan said two Muslim women lodged complaints of dowry harassment by their husbands. In one case, a woman from the city, the daughter of a former MP, complained that she had married a man from the US in 2013 and had lived with him in the US for nine months. She said he had tortured her demanding dowry.

The chairman said the woman was trickled to coming back to Hyderabad from US by her husband Mirza Irfan Baig on the pretext of a marriage in the family. He abandoned her and went back to the US.

In the second case, a woman from Karimnagar complained to the commission against her husband Azeemuddin who fled to Dubai after harassing her and taking money from her on the pretext of getting a visa for her. Mr Khan said that in both cases the commission has asked the ministry to initiate extradition processes, which it has begun.
