Telangana government comes up with five-minute video on Mission Bhagiratha
Hyderabad: The state government has come out with a five-minute video on Mission Bhagiratha to promote the flagship programme in Telan-gana and other states.
The video in English states that development and identity was a distant dream in Telangana due to negligence by successive governments in undivided AP.
“Telangana, the youngest state in India is geographically carved out by two perennial rivers, Godavari and Krishna. But the tragedy is that majority of habitations rely on contaminated ground water with most areas being drought prone; and 973 villages doomed with high fluoride content which leads to dreadful disease fluorosis,” it states.
The video states that the ambitious Mission Bhagiratha drew inspiration from the Siddipet drinking water project conceived by Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao in 1996 with a shoestring budget of Rs 60 crore and provided drinking water to every home in 180 villages.
Calling it a path-breaking step for a drought free future the video points out that Mission Bhagiratha will provide treated water to 26,000 habitations.
