TPCC leaders to campaign in Karnataka

Hyderabad: With less than a month for Karnataka Assembly polls, about 30 Congress leaders from Telangana, who are well-known in the neighbouring state, will campaign for different candidates. They will be camping in Assembly constituencies that have a sizable Telugu-speaking population or having historic connections with Telangana.

According to party sources, besides PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, who enjoys a good following in Bengaluru, and leaders having mass appeal in the state will be campaigning for candidates in the district bordering Telangana. Many of them have a large Muslim population.

“A list of 30 leaders is already prepared. Once the list is approved by the TPCC chief they will be leaving in the last week of April. We will be deputing our leaders who can influence targetted communities like weavers, fishermen, minorities and OBCs, like V. Hanumantha Rao and Shabbir Ali” informed a leader.

Meanwhile, in the AICC list of 61 Assembly-level observers five are from Telangana, including Bellaiah Naik Tejavath, Mallu Ravi, Obedullah Kothwal, S.A. Sampath Kumar and Mulugu MLA, Seethakka.

The observers will be assigned different constituencies after a meeting in Bengaluru on April 18.

“We shall be ensuring that everything goes according to the strategy and there are no lapses in coordination,” Obedullah told Deccan Chronicle.
