Bengaluru: Two die after lorry rolls off Yeswanthpur flyover

The driver lost control of the vehicle leading to the accident.

Bengaluru: Two drivers of a mini-lorry carrying a load of mushrooms died after it fell off Yeshwanthpur flyover early Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivasa Rao, 23 the co-driver, and K.G. Kenchegowda, 38, the driver. Both were residing in the city and hailed from Hosur.

The driver lost control of the vehicle leading to the accident. The police said the lorry was coming to the city from Pune and the accident took place at around 5.30 am. As the accident happened early morning, there were no vehicles or people below the flyover, the police added.

Rao died on the spot, while Kenchegowda was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed. The police shifted the bodies to M.S. Ramaiah hospital for post-mortem.

The police rushed to the spot and cleared the road with the help of cranes. Many passersby got down to collect mushrooms.
