Telangana: Uncertainty over cheques distribution

If the CM is keen on taking up simulataneous distribution, the cheque distribution would be postponed to May.

Hyderabad: Large-scale errors have been detected on the cheques to be distributed to farmers from April 19 to provide Rs 4,000 per acre financial assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

It submitted all such land records data to agriculture department for disbursement of Rs 4,000 per acre though no agriculture is being done on such lands. The agriculture department too failed to verify this data before sending it to the banks for printing of cheques.

The banks printed cheques accordingly, which will not serve any purpose now. Meanwhile, uncertainty prevails over the launch of distribution of cheques.

While Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao earlier announced that it will be launched on April 19, officials doubt this as there is no confimation for CM’s Office so far.

The CM wants distribution of new electronic pattadar passbooks to all land owners across the state along with distribution of cheques. However, only 5 lakh e-pattadar passbooks have been printed.

If the CM is keen on taking up simulataneous distribution, the cheque distribution would be postponed to May.

One more argument doing the rounds is CM, ministers and ruling party leaders are busy with making arrangements for TRS plenary meeting on April 27 and for this reason the cheque distribution would be taken up after this meeting.
