Life in Tamil Nadu a struggle
Most film celebrities are active on their twitter space. In the prevailing political scene in Tamil Nadu, the tweets of two stars are watched closely and shared instantly — Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
There was an immediate connect with people following Superstar Rajinikanth's Tamil tweet as he seemed to capture the moment best in saying that life for the people in Tamil Nadu has become a “struggle” as they have to launch protests to secure and ensure their due rights.
Rajinikanth tweeted, “At a time life itself has become a protest, to plough your own field, to breathe fresh air, to protect drinking water, to safeguard our rights, we have to fight for all. Let the new year bring happiness and rid of all these problems and people lead a prosperous life.”
This must set people thinking of the people of the state who are in a bit of turmoil over many issues —Cauvery water, Sterlite expansion, methane extraction, gas pipeline, IPL cricket, Prime Minister visit, etc. Needless to say there has not been a dull moment for days on end as the state has wrangled with the Centre over CMB.
Kamal Haasan has been in the thick of action on all issues, expressing his opinions freely on twitter as well as at press conferences. Since April 14, Tamil New Year Day, was also Ambedkar's birthday, Kamal who was one of the earliest among political leaders to wish the people, used his social media for sending out a pertinent message on the Constitution, which Ambedkar helped write.
Kamal said, “To the Tamils all over the globe, Happy New Year. On the birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar let us all make a vow to follow the constitution that he wrote. Let us take a strong resolve to make the State and the Central governments too to follow that constitution and fulfil the wishes of the Tamilians to set up the Cauvery Management Board. Let Tamil unite us Tamilians, Tomorrow is ours.”
