Guntur DRM office first in IR to get IGBC Green Campus Platinum Rating
Guntur: Rail Vikas Bhavan (DRM office campus), Pattabhipuram, Guntur, has been selected as the first IGBC Green Campus Platinum rating (existing) in Indian Railways. senior divisional commercial manager, SC Railway, Guntur, K. Uma Maheswara Rao said.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said that Indian Railways is a pro-environmental organisation and to reinforce its image as a "green transporter", the authorities decided to undertake Green Rating Certification for different types on railway establishments being maintained under their purview.
As part of this policy, Guntur division has taken an initiative to go for green rating certification for Rail Vikas Bhavan campus (Divisional Railway Manager's Office Campus, Guntur).
Mr Maheswara Rao said that IGBC authorities, during their visit to railway station, advised the officials to achieve platinum rating by developing energy saving facilities, water conservation, utilisation of natural sources (solar and water) and developing flora/fauna, green environment development and protection, along with adopting waste management policy.
He said that subsequently Rail Vikas Bhavan campus has got registered with Indian Green Building Council, Confederation of Indian Industry, Hyderabad, on 16 January, 2018, vide registration number GCE 18 0017.
Mr Maheswara Rao said that M/s Eckological Advisors India Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, was engaged, who made documentation along with assessment of work and submitted to IGBC on 23 March, 2018, for obtaining Green Rating Certification for Rail Vikas Bhavan Campus (Divisional Railway Manager's Office Campus, Guntur).
A senior counsellor from IGBC visited the Rail Vikas Bhavan campus (Divisional Railway Manager's Office Campus, Guntur) on 12 April, 2018, verified the various green concepts and other programmes to obtain clarifications and duly give guidance to sustain.
After inspection of the campus, the representative of IGBC expressed satisfaction and said the facilities and pro-environmental standards achieved 76 points against 76 points attempted, for getting platinum. (Platinum rating-67-90) and stated that Rail Vikas Bhavan (DRM office Campus), Pattabhipuram, Guntur, is the first IGBC Green Campus Platinum Rating (Existing) in Indian Railways.
