Girl goes missing, railways launches operation following brother's tweet

New Delhi: Indian Railway has launched efforts to trace a missing girl after her brother posted the information on a social networking site and sought help from Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

Seeking help, the missing girl's brother tweeted "My sister Divya is missing from Sonepat since April 5" and posted her photo on Wednesday.

Taking note of the tweet, Prabhu, who was on a two-nation tour to France and Germany, instructed officials concerned to trace the missing girl.

"IR has taken all out effort to search the missing sister, All Rail side thana had been asked 4 massive search drives," Railway Ministry tweeted responding to brother's message.

According to a senior Railway Ministry official involved in monitoring social networking sites, "Instructions have been passed to all concerned and a massive search operation has been launched in a coordinated way involving GRP, RPF and local police. We are hopeful of positive results shortly."

Meanwhile, a GRP personnel was suspended after a video clip showed the cop taking bribe on a train.

Prabhu asked the authorities concerned to take immediate action after the video clip was tagged on his twitter account by a fellow passenger showing a uniformed policeman extorting money from passengers travelling in unreserved compartment of a train.

The policeman in the video clip was identified as Amit Malik, a constable in Uttar Pradesh Government Railway Police posted at Ghaziabad. He was suspended with immediate effect and a case registered under Prevention of Corruption Act.
