Election Commission sends teams to Telangana borders

The CEO said that district election officers were appointed to all 33 districts of the state.

Hyderabad: The Election Commission has decided to keep a strict vigil on the state borders to curb the illegal flow of liquor and money into the state during the elections.

Rajath Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, while addressing a press conference on at his office on Thursday, mentioned about an interstate coordination meeting which will be held with the officials of the bordering states of Telangana, to keep a check on the illegal transportation of liquor and money from outside the state.

While announcing that the notification for the Lok Sabha election will be issued on 18th March, the CEO said that district election officers were appointed to all 33 districts of the state.

In view of the complaints against the illegal supply of liquor and money in the recent Assembly polls, he said that they have to deploy vigilance teams to curb the influx of money and liquor this time as well.

In response to a question pertaining to the complaint against Ramgopal Varma’s movie Lakshmi's NTR, he said that the complaint was forwarded to the ECI and that the poll panel will decide whether the movie will release or not.
