Telangana Congress leaders mull no-trust motion

A final decision on the no confidence motion will be taken in the next couple days after consulting the other Opposition parties.

Hyderabad: The Congress, the main Opposition party in TS, is mulling a no confidence motion against the TRS Cabinet and has started consulting other Opposition parties like the BJP, TD, CPI and CPM.

“We are in process of moving either a no confidence motion against the government or a motion to remove Speaker Madhusudana Chary who failed to protect the rights of the Opposition,” TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

A final decision on the no confidence motion will be taken in the next couple days after consulting the other Opposition parties, he said.

Congress MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy made the suggestion when he met CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and other legislators, but some of them did not favour such an action during the Budget session.

However, the TPCC president is of the view that at least the Opposition would get decent time to raise issues, including criticising the government’s inaction and non-implementation of its promises.

Some leaders close to the TPCC chief suggested that if the no confidence motion is taken up, all Congress MLAs joined the TRS would be compelled to vote in favour of the no confidence motion since they are listed as Congress MLAs in the Assembly records.
