Showcause against Sarath Kumar, 2 others in SIFAA finance matters
Chennai: The South Indian Film Artistes’ Association has decided to issue a show-cause notice to former president Sarath Kumar, general secretary Radha Ravi and treasurer Vaagai Chandrasekar to explain the spending of Rs 1.65 crore during their tenure, association general secretary and popular movie hero Vishal said here.
He said his team had obtained from the predecessors the account of income-expenditure during the last tenure. “These accounts were scrutinised by a special team of auditors, who found that there was no proper accounting for spending about Rs 1.65 crore. We complained to the police after failing to get any response from our predecessors despite our many requests for clarifications”, Vishal told DC here on Monday.
“We conducted a meeting of the association executive committee today, where most members wanted us to suspend the three members from the association.
The association bylaws do not allow such direct action without serving show-cause on the concerned member. Accordingly, show-cause notices have been prepared and they will be sent to the three members tomorrow (Tuesday)”, association president Nasser said.
