Panchaloha feet of goddess to be kept for darshan from March 16

The feet will be kept for public darshan from March 16.

Chennai: The Panchaloha feet of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Amman, weighing 1,500 kg, which were taken round the city in a decorated chariot, will be kept at the Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devasthanam (SKPD) premises on Audiappa Street here, to facilitate darshan to devotees from March 16.

Devotees and temple trustees have planned to make the world’s tallest Panchaloha idol of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari, 90 feet in height, and instal the idol in the 120-feet high temple on January 30, 2017 at Penugonda in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Penugonda is regarded as the birthplace of the goddess. The idol, which was taken round in a rath yatra, was inaugurated by Governor K. Rosaiah on March 6 and reached SKPD here. The feet will be kept for public darshan from March 16.

The SKPD trust has planned to organise Ksheerabishekam between 9 am and 12 noon on March 16, for a charge of '1,008 and Samoohika Kumkuma archana for '250 in batches. The proceeds of performing the rituals would be contributed towards constructing the temple and for making the immense idol.
