Hyderabad: For the first time, a Hyderabad court on Monday sentenced truck owner B. Sathaiah for employing a driver who did not have a licence.
The court also jailed the driver for six days; Jangaiah was caught driving a truck (AP 16TT 240) for a second time without licence. He was among five drivers who were sent to jail by the sixth special metropolitan magistrate for driving without licence.
The Hyderabad traffic police started a drive earlier this month against drivers who were at the wheel without valid papers. As a part of the drive, traffic police registered 6,864 cases till March 14. Eighty chargesheets were filed against violators for driving without license.
Autorickshaw driver Sk Assad was sentenced to five days. G Kishan, another autorickshaw driver who was caught for the second time without licence got two day’s jail. A two-wheeler rider who was caught for the third time was sentenced for two days.
