CM Bommai stresses need for US Consulate in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stressed the need to have the US consulate office in Bengaluru during a meeting with US Ambassador to India Elizabeth Jones.

During the meeting held in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Bommai explained to Jones that people from Bengaluru are now depending on the US consulate office in Chennai which is causing lot of inconvenience to the US travellers from Bengaluru.

The Chief Minister also brought to the notice of the Ambassador that several international events such as Global Investors Meet and Invest Karnataka are being in Bengaluru which have many international guests.”

Karnataka, he said, is having industrial-friendly atmosphere and the foreign direct investment in the state has been on the rise.

Ambassador Elizabeth Jones told the Chief Minister that she is excited to further bolster the partnership between the United States and Karnataka.

"Karnataka plays a significant role in advancing the India-U.S. commercial partnership and the State alone hosts over 650 U.S. companies creating thousands of jobs in India and also in the U.S," she said
