Women voters outnumber men in 2020 electoral rolls

A total of 16 overseas electors have also been enrolled in the Special Summary Revision.

Chennai: Women voters outnumber men in the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2020 released by the Election Commission of India on Friday. The State comprised of elctors of 6,13,06,638 of this 3,02,54,172 are men and 3,10,45,969 female and it also has 6,497 Third Gender voters. A total of 16 overseas electors have also been enrolled in the Special Summary Revision.

Shozhinganallur Assembly Constituency has highest number of electors with 6,60,317 electors, 3,31,996 male, 3,28,232 female and 89 third gender voters. The lowest number of electors is Harbour Assembly Constituency with 1,73,337 electors, 90,333 male, 82,952 female and 52 third gender.

State Chief Electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo has published the final electoral rolls of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2020 with reference to January 1, 2020 as the qualifying date to vote.

During the month long special drive commenced with draft publication on December 23, 2019, received claims and objection from eligible voters.

During the revision period the Commission received 14,65,890 applications for inclusion of names and the Commission admitted 14,02,464 applications and the names were included. Of the 1,18,681 applications for deletions which were received, 97,155 deletions have been made on account of shifting, death and duplicate entries.

The commission stated that a total of 1,78,409 applications were received for correction of entries. Out of that 1,22,817 applications were admitted. In respect of transposition of entries within the Assembly During the above revision period, 14,65,890 applications for inclusion of names were received and 14,02,464 applications were admitted and names were included. Of the 1,18,681 applications for deletions which were received, 97,155 deletions have been made on account of shifting, death and duplicate entries.

The electoral rolls are available on CEO's website http://elections.tn.gov.in. Voters can check their names by visiting the same. And all eligible persons who have completed 18 years as on January 1, 2020 and not enrolled in the Electoral Rolls are requested to apply in by submitting For-6 with the concerned Electoral Registration Officers, by applying online through www.nvsp.in. and through Voter Helpline App", which available in Google play store.
