Mangaluru: Five people sustained minor injuries when a portion of the pandal of a function at Dharmasthala collapsed due to strong winds on Thursday afternoon.
The stage was setup for the Panchamahavaibhava as part of Maha Mastakabhisheka. Dakshina Kannada SP said that five people sustained minor injuries, when a portion of the roof of the venue collapsed. "No one was stuck under the roof. When the collapse happened, no event was taking place," he said.
Organising committee of Maha Mastakabhisheka said that people had gone for lunch when the incident took place. Nearly 30 people had come out before the roof collapse happened.
The injured were treated as outpatients at a hospital in Ujire. The Mastakabhisheka organizers said the event would continue as per schedule.
