Hyderabad: Woman suspects husband's fidelity, poisons twin children
Hyderabad: Suspecting her husband’s fidelity, a 30-year-old woman administered poison to her twin children before she consumed it.
Her five-year-old daughter died while undergoing treatment while the mother and her son are undergoing treatment at two hospitals.
Suresh and Suma, 30, the natives of Chandabavi village in Tumkur district of Karnataka, came to the city about two years ago.
They were living at Laxmi Nagar in Miyapur in a rented house with their twins, Harshitha and Harsha, aged five years now. Suresh works in Aurobindo Pharma while Suma is a homemaker.
On Wednesday evening at about 6 pm, Suresh reached home from office and found his wife and children unconscious.
He called for an ambulance and shifted them to a nearby private hospital, where Harshitha died while undergoing treatment.
Miyapur sub-inspector Ram Reddy said, “The couple developed differences after Suma suspected Suresh’s fidelity. This led to arguments between them regularly. Yesterday (Wednesday) she consumed some unidentified poison after administering the same to her children.”
Harsha is currently undergoing treatment at Ankur hospital and Suma is being treated at Srikara hospital. Their health is said to be stable now and police is waiting for Suma to recuperate to record her statement.
The baby’s body was handed over to the family after conducting autopsy at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary on Thursday, said the SI.
He said that Suma’s parents do not suspect their son-in-law and said that Suresh loves their daughter very much.
A case has been registered against Suma under Section 302 of IPC and further investigation is underway, said SI Reddy.
