Telangana: Farmer loses crop, hangs himself
Farmers found him hanging from the tree and alerted the police.
Hyderabad: Depressed by debt burden, a 57-year-old farmer committed suicide in Vikarabad district on Wednesday. Kondani Narsimhulu hanged himself from a tree in his field, said police.
According to the police, Narsimhulu hailed from Doma village in the district. He had cultivated cotton this season, but the crop got damaged due to bad weather. He was also under pressure to repay loans he had taken from villagers to buy farm inputs. With the crop lost, he lost all prospects of paying back. Narsimhulu took this extreme step, unable to bear the burden of debt and interest.
