The second leg of AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s campaign will take off in Mumbai-Karnataka from Belagavi on February 24. Two teams of AICC leaders will be arriving in Belagavi in the next two days to take a final decision on Mr Gandhi's scheduled visits in the region.

According to the president of the state Congress Women's Cell, Laxmi Hebbalkar, Mr Gandhi will also be visiting some noted religious places during his poll campaign in Mumbai-Karnataka.

Unlike other top leaders, Mr Gandhi is on a campaign to seek people's support for the Congress party and not merely to give hollow assurances and tall claims, asserted Ms Hebbalkar adding that he had also been requuested to visit the Yellamma Devi temple at Saudatti which is one of the famous temples in Mumbai-Karnataka with a massive following.

Ms Hebbalkar who is set to contest the coming Assembly elections from a seat in Belagavi, held a programme to felicitate at least 8,000 army personnel, both retired and serving as part of her birthday celebrations which were held at the CPEd grounds in Belagavi on Wednesday. A large number of sugarcane growers who supplied cane to Harsha Sugar Factory, owned by Ms Hebbalkar, were present on the occasion.
