Hyderabad: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced biennial poll schedule for nine MLC posts in AP and one post in TS under Local Authorities Constituencies. Polling will be held on March 17. Voting will take place for the MLC seats on March 17, including for the Hyderabad Local Authorities constituency presently held by MIM’s Syed Amin-ul-Hasan Jafri, whose term ends on May 1.
In AP, the terms of Mettu Govind Reddy (Anantapur), C. Narayana Reddy (Kadapa), Vakati Narayana Reddy (Nellore), Angara Ramamohan and Meka Seshu Babu (West Godavari), Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao (East Godavari), P. Viswa Prasada Rao (Srikakulam), B. Naresh Kumar Reddy (Chittoor) and Silpa Chakrapani Reddy (Kurnool) will end by March 29 and May 1, 2017.
Nominations will be received from February 21 to 28, scrutiny will take place on March 1, the last date for withdrawal of papers is March 3, date of polling would be March 27 and the votes would be counted on March 20. Among the nine MLC elections in AP, the election from Kadapa local bodies constituencies will be interesting in all aspect due to the YSRC declaring former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy as its candidate. B.Tech Ravi is the TD candidate.
