NIA questions YS Jagan Mohan Reddy attacker
Hyderabad: The questioning of Janipalli Srinivasa Rao, accused in the attack on Andhra Pradesh opposition leader and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, took place at the NIA office in Kondapur on Monday.
Srinivas Rao was questioned for over six hours during the second day of NIA custody by a Deputy Inspector General rank officer and an additional SP rank officer and others.
During questioning, the officials reportedly asked Rao to reveal the incidents that had taken place that led him to attack Mr Reddy.
“The officials asked him if he aspired to be a minister, to which Rao replied with a no. They asked him about his background and who instigated him to attack Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Rao said that it was him who did it and no one had asked him to attack the leader,” said Saleem, Advocate for Rao.
“Even if you perform a narco test on me, the answers will not change. There is nobody behind who instigated me to attack Mr Reddy,” the advocate said quoting Rao, who was answering the questions of the investigators.
Following the court orders that Rao should be taken for a health checkup every 48 hours, the NIA officials had taken him to Kondapur area government hospital on Monday morning and then started questioning.
He was provided with breakfast and meals by investigators and was questioned in the advocate’s presence in the interrogation room.
Saleem said that for another five days, Rao would be in NIA’s custody.
