Inspections continue at Technopark Campus

As many as 100 staff of the IT Park became sick following stomach flu in the past one week.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Inspections by the District Medical Office (DMO) and City Corporation continue in and around Technopark Campus, with no clue on the viral bug that triggered the stomach flu among the techies. As many as 100 staff of the IT Park became sick following stomach flu in the past one week.

The DMO is gearing up to conduct a medical camp at the Technopark campus to carry out a thorough investigation of the techies who have fallen ill or have symptoms. A top official of DMO said that the stomach flu started reporting from January 7 onwards. “Everybody affected had vomiting diarrhea and fever and it goes away in two days. Cases were reported at five of the fifteen building in the IT Park inclu-ding Nila and Bhavani,” said the official.

The authorities are gearing up to collect water samples from the eateries. “We seriously doubt it could be the water. We will be conducting camp tomorrow and if required samples will be collected from the affected people,” said the official.

Meanwhile, the squads under the civic body inspected the eateries yet again. “A hotel and juice bar which we ser-ved notice were closed down. We have given notices to the hostel aut-horities to check the qu-ality of water and give us the report,” said the official. Seven-day impr-ovement notices have been served to others.
