Khammam: Many of the lorry, private bus and car owners have not registered their names with the labour department but continue to ply their vehicles to transport goods. They have been asked to register their name on the website of the department.

It is found that details of workers, drivers and others employed in the private sector has not been provided. As per the labour department rules, every vehicle owner employing them for business purpose needs to register the name and pay a certain amount of fees.

A person owning a vehicle and engaging five workers should pay Rs 750 to the labour department. The amount payable would be Rs 1,500 if the number of workers is between six and 25.

The department will issue a token after paying the fee. After paying the fee, they need to fill the details online such as permit details and period of the permit of the vehicle.

While checking, vehicles that are being plied without obtaining a token will be seized by the government. The owners can get the check list and details of the fee online. Many of the drivers and assistants working in vehicles are not paid adequate salaries and do not have insurance claims.

The families of drivers do not get any insurance amounts in case of any accident. Moreover, the government does not have proper details of workforce in this unorganised sector. The details will help evolve schemes or extending available schemes to these workers.
