Andhra Pradesh government striving to make people feel good'

Almost all district administrations gave top priority to Plan B with instructions from the state government.

VIJAYAWADA: The state government has decided that the state’s people must feel good all the time. Whatever political, administrative and other issues the state may be facing, it is sketching a design where there will be programmes through the year to promote a feel good factor amongst the public. Even in the recently organised Janmabhoomi programme, Plan A gave priority for grievances while in Plan B it organised ananda lahari, rangoli competitions, spiritual programmes, and other cultural programmes.

Almost all district administrations gave top priority to Plan B with instructions from the state government. A senior IAS officer said this was because the government wanted to pass on positive waves across the state despite serious issues like delimitation of constituencies, Polavaram and other burning matters. He further opined that these programmes will be an effective platform for public involvement and would create a positive impact on the people.

The state government is implementing reforms in administration. With real time governance it is able to see the positive results in various government programmes. Despite being able to use technology it is also focusing on the involvement of public in government activities. Happiness index is the dream to be achieved from this.

To measure the happiness index the state government has several parameters. By redressing the petitions received, and resolving non-financial issues on the spot and promoting cultural activities to get closer to public and increase the happiness quotient, the state government has increased its face value. Programmes like Happy Sundays which started in metros and are now being slowly extended to municipalities and mandal headquarters.

A senior IAS official said, technology application is taking place in administration but with public participation in government programmes, the state government is earning extra brownie points.
