Kozhikode: Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised the concern of the air passengers, who suffer in the absence of a regulatory body.
In a memorandum, he said that with the introduction of the Open Sky policy, the sector has grown manifold but passenger dissatisfaction has increased. The MP also requested for setting up a regulatory body like TRAI soon.
Common issues being faced by the passengers include cancellation or rescheduling of the flights, poor response from the airlines and misinformation provided by the airlines. There is also a lengthy procedure in getting the refund, and there are also cases of denial of refunds, he said.
“There is no regulatory or any other types of authority like the TRAI, to vent the grievances of the air travellers. Most of the existing guidelines and rules are pro-airlines, and the passengers are at the receiving end. Therefore, public dissatisfaction among the passengers is on the increase,” he said. He requested the Prime Minister to direct the civil aviation ministry to examine the issue and constitute the authority soon.
