Hyderabad: A woman’s attention to her daughter’s unusual behaviour at home led to the arrest of a teacher working at a zilla parishad high school who was sexually harassing girl students by touching their private parts.
The Rachakonda commissionerate arrested the school teacher following the complaint from a victim’s mother on Friday.
According to the police, the accused R. Jagadeeshwar, 38, is a resident of Yacharam in Ranga Reddy district. He has been working as a teacher at a ZP school for one-and-a-half years and was teaching social studies to high school students.
The victim, a Class VIII student, who Jagadeeshwar subjected to sexual abuse was behaving unusually at home for the last four days. Her parents noticed she was silent at home and was not interacting with them. Alerted by this, her mother enquired and got to know about Jagadeeshwar molesting her.
The police said that the victim’s mother lodged a complaint stating that Jagad-eeshwar had touched the private parts of her daughter. He was misbehaving with the other girl students, including the classmates of the victim.
Following the complaint, a case was registered against Jagadeeshwar under the relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act on Friday.
Jagadeeshwar was taken into custody, the police said, adding that further investigation in the case is underway.
