N Chandrababu Naidu puts off visit to Kurnool as pending projects pile up

YSRC state general secretary Gouru Venkat Reddy slammed Naidu for fooling the people of Kurnool with broken promises.

Kurnool: The slew of promises made by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to turn up the economy of Kurnool is unlikely to be fulfilled as his dispensation has about six months left before elections.

Kurnool MP Butta Renuka, MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy along with several other legislators who were elected on the YSRC plank shifted allegiance to TD hoping developmental activities would be taken up. YSRC general secretary Gouru Venkat Reddy said several promises made by Naidu had not taken shape.

CM N. Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to inaugurate the Daddanala lift irrigation project on Friday in Banganapalle constituency. But his programme has been cancelled, said a TD functionary. Gouru Venkata Reddy said soon after bifurcation, Naidu strategically chose Kurnool to attend Independence day celebrations and gave a beautiful bouquet of promises to transform the district into a prosperous industrial zone.

But Kurnool city continues to face a flood situation from the Tungabhadra river, and the long pending demand of a flood wall to protect citizens was a far cry. The city witnessed the worst floods in 2009 that had devastated the economy and derailed thousands of families.

Mining University at Dhone, International Airport at Orvakallu, Agricultural university in Nandyal, Smart city tag for Kurnool, Deer protection park at Alur, modernisation of Kurnool government hospital which gives medical service to Rayalaseema region and Mahabubnagar districts, as a big medical hub with help of AIMS, were promised.
