Thiruvananthapuram: The special squad constituted by the Kerala Commissionerate of Food Safety on Thursday sealed seven cake and wine manufacturing units in raids held across the state as part of the special drive to ensure food safety during Christmas and New Year.
The squad inspected as many as 1,257 cake/wine manufacturing units and collected 32 legal samples and 15 surveillance samples from the units.
Improvement notices were served to 473 manufacturing units for poor hygiene. The commissionerate also collected fine to the tune of Rs 11,06000 from various units for violations.
The drive will continue in the state till December 21.
