HYDERABAD: Residents from various colonies in Secunderabad Cantonment area failed to utilise the electoral verification and revision exercise conducted in the October-November period, doubting the credentials of operators who made door-to-door visits.
The operators were hired only for the verification drive. More than two hundred students were roped in as operators. The Cantonment Assembly segment consists of 230 polling stations, each with about thousand voters.
When these operators went to collect the Aadhaar and other personal details from residents, some of them asked for their identity cards and the letter by the SCB CEO. “These operators were college students.
“Despite showing a letter by the CEO, some residents did not co-operate and refused to share their details,” an SCB staffer said.
A similar situation was seen in the Army welfare housing colonies and at apartments, where watchmen and security staff did not allow them enter inside.
Of the 2.52 lakh total votes from the previous list, 71,000 voters’ names did not make it to the rolls due to deletion, shifting and other reasons.
