TSIC pulls up MEO, HM for neglecting school building

The government built a separate school for the students of SC community at SC colony in the village.

Warangal: The Telangana State Information Commission has sent show cause notices to the headmaster and the mandal education officer of Government Primary School in Narmetta village of Jangaon district for not attending hearing of a case about a complaint on the delay in reconstruction of the dilapidated school building. The complaint was filed by the villagers after the officials failed to begin the renovation works months after a new building was sanctioned.

The government built a separate school for the students of SC community at SC colony in the village. The school building is currently in a dilapidated state with cracked walls and ceiling. A part of the ceiling has already come off. The doors and windows are also broken. There are 28 students currently studying in the school. They are attending classes with constant fear of when the roof would come down and injure them. During the rainy season water seeps inside the room.

Some of the youngsters of the village have taken the issue to the notice of MEO but to no avail. The officials also did not furnish information regarding why there is a delay in the construction of the new building. The members of NGO, Narmetta Education Social Cultural Organisation, working for the welfare of the village filed the complaint with the TSIC.

“Even as the students are suffering due to the bad condition of the classroom, the officials are unmoved. We filed a complaint with the state information commission which accepted our complaint for hearing. Notices were sent to HM, MPPS and the MEO to be present before them with the relevant records and information but they failed to turn up for the hearing. The information commissioner Budha Murali expressed anger against the officials and issued show cause notices to them,” said Aeiley Srikanth Reddy, founder of NESCO.
